Campinas, Brazil (December 4, 2019): Today, SABIS® and the University of Campinas (Unicamp) launched SABIS® & Unicamp Talks, a new series of seminars on international education held at the SABIS® International School – Campinas Temporary Office located at Av. Engenheiro Carlos Stevenson, 385 Nova Campinas. SABIS®, a global education network that has an active presence in 20 countries on five continents, is expected to open SABIS® International School –Campinas in August 2021, making the world-renowned SABIS® education available to students in Brazil for the first time.
In the first talk of the series, Dr. Rita Ladeia, a distinguished university professor of bilingual education, discussed in her latest book on bilingual education in Brazil. Dr. Ladeia also explored existing teaching methodologies used in international and bilingual schools in Brazil and why the SABIS® methodology seems to be the most suitable education for children in today’s changing world.
The second in the series of SABIS® & Unicamp Talks is expected to be held in February 2020. Guest speaker Dr. Leandro Tessler, a University of Campinas professor, will be discussing the importance of an international education in Brazil. The third and final talk is scheduled for November 2020 during which Dr. Rosana Baeninger, also a University of Campinas professor, will be speaking about the topic of inter-culturalism and contemporary school settings.
When it opens in August 2021, SABIS® International School – Campinas will offer an international, bilingual education that prepares students for success on both local Brazilian and international examinations paving the way for acceptance to top universities in Brazil and abroad. In preparation for its August 2021 opening, the school will offer a preparatory course in February 2021 in order to make sure that students gain the level of fluency in English required to follow class instruction successfully.
